Heard: Tutorspree Raises $1 Million Round Led By Sequoia Capital | TechCrunch

Aaron Harris launches &q...

Tutorspree is an online marketplace to find pre-screened private tutors for local learning. The company landed a nice chunk of change from a group of investors that included ImagineK12′s Geoff Ralston, according to TechCrunch.

Stay tuned, we’re working up an in-depth Startup Slugfest between tutorspree and TutorCloud. TechCrunch spoke with tutorspree CEO about the pre-screened tutors that power their business:

CEO Aaron Harris says that the platform now has three thousand tutors, with a waiting list of over six thousand hoping to get added. About half of those three thousand tutors have been contacted thus far by users. He also points out an interesting trend around who is hiring the tutors: there are plenty of students, but many of the site’s users are people who have finished school.
